Russell Carpenter was born and raised in Southern California. He began filming for PBS and KOCE while he was a student at San Diego State University.
After a few years of low-budget film making Carpenter broke into the mainstream with True Lies in 1994, and has since filmed hits like Charlie’s Angels, 21, Jobs, The Negotiator, This Means War, and Antman. His masterful work on Titanic earned him an Academy Award for Best Cinematography.
Russell has recently established a reputation as a botanical and international photographer. His passion for his subjects comes across in every image that he creates. Russell has photographed many people and places throughout the world, including India, France, Bali and New York. Flower photography is a particular passion of his and these works of art are a celebration of color, light and shape.
